#16 Loneliness and LoveBy: Fred | March 6, 2012 | 0 Comments
The body is a house of many windows:there we all sit, showing ourselves and crying on the passers – by to come and love us. – Robert Louis Stevenson
Does love conquer all? Even loneliness? Can we know love, and at the same time also suffer loneliness? Love and loneliness, together, together and separate, are the subjects of many literary works, and songs.
Loneliness is the Absence of Love
This writer contends that one who loves, and is loved, cannot suffer loneliness. Can anyone deny that “Love” is the driving force of our humanness? Love may be difficult to define, but we sure know it when we have it. And we know when it is gone.
Love is Everything
We live in stressful times. There are forces attacking from all sides, and damaging the foundation of our existence. The foundation of our existence is, love. Love of God. Love of country. Love of wife, husband and family. If you believe in God, you know there is evil. Not only does God tell us about evil, we see its destructive power everywhere.
Hope and Love
Chronic Loneliness is equated with emptiness and hopeless futility. When we feel there is nothing of value in our life, no one to love and nothing to live for, that is when we give up. In desperation, we cry out to God to ease our pain. Later, when our despair has deepened even more, we curse God, blaming him for our condition and for refusing to make things right. It is not only chronic loneliness that prompts us to reach out to God. We do it if a loved one or close friend is in harm’s way, lost or maybe in the operating room. We do it when we awaiting lab results on a biopsy. We ask God for solace and strength, to help us with our SATs or even when our favorite pet is ill.
So, how can we be lonely when God is always there for us?
Body chemistry can screw up sound thinking in a second. When depression strikes, the balance of our body chemistries goes coo coo, and we make a lot of mistakes because of it.
We stop doing the right things. We don’t eat or sleep right, we don’t exercise. We over-indulge, drink too much and abuse drugs.
The upside of body chemistry knowledge, there are then two solutions for erasing our loneliness pain. God andmedicinal science.
So, listen all you lovers:
“…only the loving find love. And they never have to seek for it.
